MTV Reveals There’s ‘Celebrity Deathmatch’ Reboot On The Way – LADbible

MTV has announced that we’ll be getting a new reboot of Celebrity Deathmatch, everyone’s favourite stop-motion animation parody series that pitted celebrities against each other in a spoof wrestling match – including everyone from Hanson and the Spice Girls through to Ozzy Osbourne and Elton John.

Celebrity Deathmatch originally ran for 93 episodes across six seasons between 1998 and 2002, before we were given a revival that ran from 2006 to 2007 on MTV2.

MTV2 tried once again to reboot the show for a third time, filming a pilot in 2015, but creator Eric Fogel announced on Twitter that MTV had decided not to pick this up.

But while the show keeps getting knocked down, thankfully it keeps getting straight on up again – and again, and again.

“We’re excited to grow our partnership with Ice Cube and Cube Vision to reimagine this fan favorite,” said Chris McCarthy, president of MTV, VH1 and CMT.

Deathmatch was the meme before memes, remains a hot topic on social media and will be a smart, funny way to tackle the over-the-top rhetoric of today’s pop culture where it belongs – in the wrestling ring.”

So far, some fans seem a little unsure by the news, arguing that the reboot ‘won’t be the same’.

One tweeted: “Not gonna be the same as before. Everything is gonna watered down, so it doesn’t offend anyone!!”

A fourth added: “Gonna be hard to top the original (and how it in some cases scarred me into repressing most episodes), but also holy crap, I forgot how ugly the show looked.”

But many others are nothing but hyped for its comeback, with one writing: “Oh god yes!!!!!

Another fan said: “Omg i loved that show happy to hear it may come back.”

Some even started throwing some suggestions into the ring – including the likes of PewDiePie, 6ix9ine and Justin Bieber.

“Eminem vs MGK,” one suggested, referencing the recent beef between the two rappers.
